Programs


Legal Assistance by Whatcom (LAW) Advocates interviews and refers eligible low-income Whatcom County residents to a panel of local attorneys who volunteer their time to provide free or low-cost civil legal help. Interpreter services are available.

Street Law. A twice monthly Saturday program that provides free legal aid and referral on a first come first served basis. In the summer it is on a street corner and for 9 months of the year it is located at the library. A Spanish interpreter is available at each Street Law session. Parenting Plan Clinic for Domestic Violence Survivors. Intensive Assistance with preparation of parenting plans for persons facing domestic violence.

Direct Representation. Landlord-Tenant, Bankruptcy, Debtor/Creditor, Employment Law, Foreclosure, Consumer Protection, Guardianship, Tort Defense, Contracts, and License Revocation.

Family Law Clinic. Legal advice, brief service and document review for family law matters.

Disability Benefits Advocacy. Assistance to homeless people in obtaining State and Federal disability benefits.

Immigration Law Advice Clinic. Legal advice or brief service for immigration law issues.

Debtor/Creditor Advice Clinic. Legal advice or brief service for debtor/creditor issues.

Whatcom Civil Rights Project. Representation in matters involving discrimination or government abuse of power. For eligibility screening, call the Whatcom Human Rights Task Force at 360-733-2233
