Eligible Cases for Attorney Consultation or Direct Representation

Family Law
• Weekly Self-Help Parenting Plan Clinic for persons facing domestic violence
• Monthly ½ hour in-person appointments with a volunteer family law attorney.

Guardianship
• Representing the person petitioning to be the guardian.

Housing
• Home or Land Foreclosure
• Landlord/Tenant including:
- Illegal Evictions:  lockouts, termination of utilities, seizure of personal property.
- Illegal Lease or Month-to-Month Tenancy Agreements.
- Unlawful Detainer Actions (each case is reviewed on its own merits; tenants must have an arguable defense)

Consumer/Finance
• Debt Collection Abuses
• ½ hour consultations for debtor/creditor problems every 2-3 months.
• For Direct Representation for Bankruptcy:  Chapter 7 only - Clients cannot be judgment proof and must have a significant debt of approximately $10,000.00 or more.
• Unfair business practices, including but not limited to:  automobile cases, home repairs, sales contracts

Employment
• Representation at administrative hearings.  Client must first seek assistance through the Unemployment Law Project. Their number is 1-888-441-9178.
• Wage claims
• Discrimination

Civil Rights
• Legal assistance and advocacy to persons with claims of discrimination and civil rights violations.

General Civil Defense
• Torts, Contracts, Insurance Claims

Wills
• For people who are over the age of 60, terminally ill or disabled.

License Revocations
• Occupational License, Driver's License

Children’s and Homeless Individuals’ SSI Benefits
• For children who have had their SSI benefits terminated
• Assistance or initial applications for homeless persons
